Born in 1991 in Bern, Switzerland, Clemens started playing the drums at the early age of 6 and by the age of 10 he made his first experiences as a drummer in the band of the reformed church in Meikirch/Berne were his father still preaches. He started taking piano lessons two years later. It was in highschool where he discovered his love for jazz and improvised music.
After High School he studied at the Hochschule Luzern - Musik Jazz Departement.
His teachers and mentors included Pierre Favre, Gerry Hemingway, Norbert Pfammatter, Lauren Newton, Christoph Baumann, Ed Partyka, Roberto Domeniconi, Hans Feigenwinter and others.
His studies with Gerry Hemingway led to an increasing interest in the music of the world, which led to a growing collection and knowledge of so called world-music, a development that cannot be underestimated.
Clemens had the privilege to play with greats like Vijay Iyer, Pierre Favre, Flavio Ambrosetti, Samuel Blaser, Nat Su, Hans Feigenwinter, Nils Wogram, Alex Sipiagin, Heiri Känzig and many more.
In 2014 he founded his quintet „Murmullo“ with John Voirol on tenor saxophone, Flo Weiss on trombone, Franz Hellmüller on guitar and Rafael Jerjen on Bass. The band released its debut, featuring 6 of Clemens' original compositions on QFTF in 2016 and started touring Switzerland.
The Collaboration in the quartet of outstanding harpist Julie Campiche woke his interest in electronics and ecouraged him to extend his musical research in that field.
Collaborative projects include Steve!, Corinne Hubers Nojakîn, ODD DOG, La Môme and the improvising duo with spoken word artist, author and longtime friend Emanuel Bundi.
In April 2016 he joined the Band Moes Anthill and toured Switzerland extensively. The Band will release a new Album in Fall 2018 meanwhile an EP with strings will be released on which he participated in arranging the tune Trouble.
In 2018 he started touring with swiss act Guy Mandon, winner of the M4Music Award/Category Pop.
He is a sought after sideman, also working with Nicole Johänntgen, The Swiss Jazz Orchestra and others and enjoys improvising freely in various contexts.
He tours Europe extensively. Highlights include: Winterjazz, Brelingen/DE, Palazzo Trevisan, Venice/IT,Hafensommer Würzburg/DE, Jazz & Klassiktage Tübingen/DE, End of the Road Festival, UK, Cecijazz Bordeaux/FR, Women in Jazz, Halle/DE, Blue Balls Lucerne/CH, Langnau Jazznights/CH, BeJazz Winterfestival /CH, BeJazz Sommer/CH, Lausanne Estival/CH, Jazz Contreband/CH, unerhört - Festival Zürich/CH, KKL Lucerne/CH, the „Jazz in Europe“ Symposium in Lucerne/CH, Moods, Zurich/CH, Zermatt Unplugged/CH , Openair St. Gallen/CH, Openair Waldstock/CH and other locations.
